This fabulous, typical Normandy style, farmhouse has a deeply relaxing setting. With horse breeding pastures outside and an easy comfort inside. A perfect stay for a weekend or a week! Once this amazing half-timbered barn-style house as a stable block. La Vie de Cocagne offers you 3 bedrooms (2 double rooms downstairs with both a bathroom) and upstairs you’ll find a cute twin for kids. It’s the perfect getaway for families, couples or a small group of friends. Ideal to experience the true Normandy rural life!
The interior
The barn is decorated with warm colors, vintage furniture, cool art. And also filled with gadgets like a Bose iPod dock and large flatscreen TV, unique touches like a glittering chandelier and romantic fire place in the living room. Glass windows and doors face the sunrise and sunset for maximum light and fabulous views from the bedroom, living room and kitchen.
Every where in the house you’ll find vintage chairs, chic French country linens and wonderful wooden beams. There’s a DVD player and extensive library of books and DVDs plus satellite TV, and a Bose system to plug in your iPod or iPhone.
The Bedrooms
With three bedrooms, the house works for couples, a family, friends. The farmhouse has two main bedrooms, very comfortably furnished with traditional French family furniture. The rooms are on the ground floor and open onto the garden with views of swaying grasses. They both have floor to ceiling slate shower bathrooms and luxury bedlinen.
The queen size chocolate room opens onto the garden, while the Nun’s room, has a cool vintage mirror above the bed. Up steep stairs, the twin guest room has lovely exposed beams and cool Union Flag cushions. This would be the best room for kids and has its own little toilet. There are no extra beds, but there is a baby cot on request.
We loved the hot tub on the terrace, especially early in the morning, watching the sun come up and during sundown!
The kitchen
In the heart of the house you’ll find the fabulous open style kitchen. The small kitchen leads on to the lovely dining table for 6 persons. The open plan kitchen and dining area is perfect for cooking, drinking and chatting. The fully equipped kitchen is modern with slate worktops, shiny steel appliances and beautiful classic crockery and glassware. During summer you can use the barbecue on the terrace.
Two terraces outside, one for seating with lounge chairs and one for dining, provide plenty of space from which to admire the horses in surrounding paddocks. But of course the best place from which to chat to the mares is the hot tub. This heated Jacuzzi is the perfect holiday hang out!
La Vie de Cocagne
In the extended field next to La Vie de Cocagne there’s a donkey (Chocolate) and a beautiful horse! To complete the true rural feeling:-)
The name of this amazing barn chic house comes from a Jeanne Moreau song, in which she dreams of leaving Paris for a fantasy country house where the art of living is high on the menu. Just like this hideway!
