The famous restaurant
In the Langestraat of Bruges, close to the city center , Chef Henk and hostess Veronique own their gourmet restaurant “Sans Cravate” for already 15 years now. Located just 750 meters from the historic Grote Markt and a 10-minute walk from the shopping streets.
Eat at a star chef without too many unnecessary formalities. That’s exactly what you can expect here, in Sans Cravate – the name says it all. So, exceptionally refined dishes, but without the blabla that normally goes with it. Or a creative, contemporary kitchen with personality. We loved it!
Although we loved every single dish, for us: the absolute highlight of our dinner was the Norway lobster and potato the fantastic galette Royal with pig, calf, foie gras and truffel and the pigeon form Anjou. And please make sure you’ll taste the fantastic wines!
The style of the restaurant
No ties and suits here. The atmosphere is chic but also loose. There is a certain intimacy thanks to the personal service of Veronique and the open kitchen where you can see Henk at work.
Henk is a man of the trade. He closely follows new developments and techniques. In the open kitchen you can see it, for example, in the rotissoire, where it slowly cooks meat, poultry and fish. Also when it comes to the products, this chef is always looking for the best quality. For delicious suckling lamb he goes to the Dutch island of Texel, for the tastiest langoustines to Brittany and for the juiciest summer vegetables to Provence, The dishes in his Michelin restaurant may be called basically classic, but at the same time one can classify his cooking style in an innovative and challenging way, where vision and originality are the ingredients.
The wine list, which consists mainly of French wines, is compiled on the advice of Veronique’s mother who is “Maitre Sommelier de France”.
Diagonally opposite your’ll find the luxury suites: “La Suite”. Contemporary design with every possible comfort to enjoy a wonderful night in Bruges. B&B La Suite has only three characterful rooms and is located in the heart of Bruges. Three different wines represent the different suites. The wooden beams and beautiful murals in combination with the colors create a warm atmosphere. Both Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc are furnished with a comfortable double bed, rain shower or bath. La Suite is more than just a place to sleep, it is in its own words a “table & bed”.
