Switzerland is a country that has it all for the experienced traveler. You can visit the beautiful cities and mountains during summer as well as wintertime. When you enter Andermatt you will immediately be struck by the vastness of The Chedi. The natural materials and colors used for the exterior of the hotel make it blend into the surrounding mountains yet you cannot be more amazed by its size. At night it is beautifully lit and even more impressive. Its wonderful design in fact resembles an Alpine chalet, you feel luxury is all around you.
When you enter the hotel the interior design is like you have never seen before. High ceilings, dark tones, soothing Asian inspired design. You sense you are welcome right away. At check in a friendly and very professional staff helps you out with a hot towel and some delicious tea to get you as comfortable as possible. Children will be presented a teddy bear, or Chedi bear as they say it. Pay attention to the kids and hey, we’re sold no matter what. Of course luggage is taken care of while you will get a tour around the hotel.
The beautiful and soundproof suites are spacious, including a lounge area, walk-in closets, stunning open bathrooms with wood and stone and cozy fireplaces to snuggle up by. Beds are like heaven. Every room comes equipped with a tablet to let you control lighting, blinds, fireplace, heating, music, etc. We even had a private wine cabinet in our suite. The painted mural inspired by 17th century European master Peter Paul Rubens added a romantic touch. The suites are so divine, we doubt you’ll ever want to leave.
All-day dining is available at The Restaurant. Here you can enjoy the central Swiss and European cuisine with flavors from the Far East. We were impressed by the enticing five-metre high cheese cellar. Buffet style breakfast is served in this restaurant as well. You can also take your taste buds on another journey, with authentic Japanese sushi, sashimi and tempura in The Japanese Restaurant. Or… let The Chedi take you with a five minute’s drive to somewhere extra special, The Club House, on the Andermatt golf course where meals are served with a generous side of breathtaking Alpine views.
The spa is incredible! Including a mountain-facing 35-metre indoor pool, outdoor lap pool, sauna, hammam and well-equipped gym. Or get a relaxing treatment. Complete your deserved indulgence with a manicure, pedicure and hair styling in the elegant alpine inspired lounges.

Like we said before, luxury all around. The design philosophy clearly is, do it good or not at all. It is just over-the- top luxury. No expenses spared. What an amazing hotel!
