Villa Kennedy – Frankfurt

This luxurious five-star villa hotel, which dates back to 1901, is located close to the south bank of the Main river. Extensive restorations have transformed Villa Kennedy into a refined haven of high-end luxury, complete with an award-winning restaurant and bar, comprehensive spa, and quintessential Rocco Forte service.Renamed in honour of President John F Kennedy’s 1963 visit to the city (large-scale photos of him and other American ‘celebrities’ can be found inside), the original villa’s three new wings are connected via a peaceful courtyard garden and surrounded by elegant colonnades. Interiors, by Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, are an impressively tasteful blend of modern and classic.

Villa Kennedy, Frankfurt

Located in the leafy Sachsenhausen district, the 163-room Villa Kennedy redefines luxury lodgings in the age of the chic, small hotel. For starters, it gets service just right—staff are well drilled and well mannered, and rooms have a low-key but fun decor, with acid-green patterned pillows on neutral natural-fiber couches and chairs, along with beds with heavy linen sheets. The bar is one of the coolest avant or après addresses in town, and Gusto, the hotel’s restaurant, turns in a top-drawer performance on regional Italian cooking. The centerpiece of the superb spa is a 15-meter green-granite lap pool with a window wall overlooking a garden.

The Rooms
The 163 luxury rooms (including 36 suites) are thoroughly modern, yet exude an organic, personalized ambiance. The hotel sums up its use of neutral tones, timber floors, and glass paneling as “minimalist deluxe,” a subtle decision to appear homey and never Spartan or gaudy.
