Hotel V Fizeaustraat – Amsterdam

A trendy & characteristic luxury hotel in a quiet suburban setting, conveniently close to transport to the city center of Amsterdam. Stylish design, cosy atmosphere and friendly service and a fantastic ‘The Lobby’ restaurant.

The building that was designed by Piet Zanstra in the seventies has been restored to its former glory. So keep everything as authentic as possible, the renovation was entirely inspired by the seventies. The original metal windows are visible and the interior is inspired by the style from the seventies.

Location

With the Amstel station nearby, the hotel is fairly central and easily accessible. You also have a view of the Amstel from the hotel. So you can enjoy the quieter neighborhood but you are also in no time in the bustling part of Amsterdam. Also the hotel also contributes to a “greener look” in the neighborhood: a large garden with many plants has been created on the roof.

The building is located near the Amstel station, in Amsteldorp, and has a view of the Amstel skyline. Only a few minutes’ walk from Amstel Station (Amsterdam’s second train station). Thus from here a metro, tram or train can take you to the beautiful city center. Also the hotel also has bikes for rent should you wish to experience Amsterdam the ‘Dutch’ way!

Style & character

Seventies style meets relaxed luxury with large, tinted windows let in lots of gentle light!  Because the building dates from the seventies, the interior is also inspired by this. Also the hotel is full of vintage mid-century design. With the warm colors and the different materials you can imagine yourself in the seventies. Wicker chairs, leather sofas and comfy armchairs are scattered in groups through the large lobby-lounge and bar. And make sure you admire the giant chandelier made from bicycle chains next to the reception.

Service & facilities

To begin with: the super friendly & helpful staff will happily inform you about the hotel & the things to do in Amsterdam. Namely Hotel V works with young Amsterdam residents who know their city and can offer good advice & tips. So this is one of the attractive aspects of the hotel!

Rooms & Suites

All the rooms & suites are also decorated in a bohemian retro style. But they all are different and yet a radiate unity because of the same seventies look & same color palette . Rooms on one wing have a view over a small canal, others look onto a small park, or suburban homes and city skyscrapers. Also all rooms have kettles, espresso machines and modest minibars. Suites are even decorated with a cosy fire place!

Finally: all the Bathrooms (at all rooms & suites) are large & stylish, nattily decorated in black and white, and have roomy walk-in showers.

The Lobby Restaurant

The atmospheric restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat belongs to the 4.5 star hotel.  So: a “culinary living lobby”. The Lobby represents a unique place where restaurant, cafe, bar and creative event spaces come together in an inspiring environment.  So this is the place to be for good wine, delicious food and lovely cocktails. Also lunch and dinner dishes are beautifully presented, with imaginative twists of flavour and the wine list shows both good knowledge and a sense of adventure.

The breakfast in The Lobby restaurant is superb & the best way to start your day: not a buffet, but a choice of one sweet and one savoury item from a long menu. A ‘Savoury’ item could be eggs benedict, an entire English breakfast or overnight oats with strawberry & coconut. ‘Sweet’ includes fruit salad with passion-fruit mascarpone, banana bread or a French croissant. We loved the a la carte breakfast: less waist & everything super fresh!

Above all non-hotel guests are also welcome to have breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks at The Lobby Fizeaustraat. The mix between (International) hotel guests and Amsterdam residents makes the atmosphere very attractive!
