Fitzgerald is a wonderful restaurant owned by Danny Gonzales and chef Remco Kuijpers and you will find this great spot in the historic and cosy ‘Oude Haven’ district in the centre of Rotterdam. Fitzgerald is situated under the hip & happening citizenM Hotel and surrounded by modern architecture and city attractrions like the fantastic new Market Hall.
Modern design and international appearance! You’ll absolutely feel like you’re in Milan, London or New York. Architect Daniela Germone designed the interior and she used beautiful blue-green and lots of dark colored wood; vintage classics meet modern design, forming a warm setting. Eye-catcher is the fantastic impressive bar in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant is has a huge courtyard which can be used as a beautiful terrace in summer. Inside you’ll find a huge bar: fantastic to enjoy an appereratif, a glass of wine with some finger food at the bar or enjoy an amazing dinner at one of the tables in the restaurant.
We enjoyed a great surprise dinner and we were seated at a round table in the section between bar and kitchen and enjoy a glass of champagne to start our special dinner! After a nice amuse we tasted the famous Fitzgerald Tiramisu: slice on the plate is a stack of zucchini, long finger, Norway lobster, mascarpone and coffee, a wonderful combination of the creamy cream with the almost raw, salty meat of the shellfish and earthy, smoky sweet accent of coffee. After this wonderful dish we enjoyed: a very special (and also famous) bouillabaisse followed by beautiful and well cooked sweetbreads with apricot & date. As a maincourse we had a great steak (Rubia Gallega beef) and we finished this amazing dinner with a desert of nectarine and raspberry / white beer.
We absolutely loved the food, the drinks, the service, the interior … we loved it! This restaurant is highly recommended . If you’re looking for a restaurant with an amazing interior and an even more amazing menu… go for Fitzgerald!
